Training and Job Placement Businesses Model PDF Print E-mail

Esperanza Unida primarily focuses on training and placing people into highly demanded jobs that pay family-supporting wages and offer benefits. To do this, we have developed the Training and Job Placement Business Model, a form of job training and placement that combines skills training with business operation. With this, students receive their instruction in a real business environment.

The revenues from the business operation contribute to the costs of the training and to the overall operation of the organization. Moreover, trainees are exposed to all aspects of business operation, not just to specific skills, and gain valuable work experience.

OVER THE LAST 19 YEARS, ESPERANZA UNIDA HAS CREATED 12 TRAINING BUSINESSES AND TRAINED NEARLY 2,500 PEOPLE

  • Each training business was created in direct response to job market opportunities and to specific community needs, focussing on skills that lead to jobs with family-supporting wages and benefits.

  • Advisory committees, assembled by Esperanza Unida and composed of community volunteers familiar with the respective industry, assisted in the creation and the continual enhancement of each of these training businesses.

  • A holistic approach of identifying and addressing students' barriers to success has always been an integral part of each of the training businesses.

  • Job placement was added as an essential component to the Training Business Model.

Esperanza Unida is annually 50% to 70% self-supporting through revenues generated from training businesses.

Through years of practice, Esperanza Unida has learned that, in addition to teaching specific, job-related skills, job-training programs must also include services to help educate the whole person. Thus, we has developed a series of services that support, educate, and assist students in attaining life skills that will help them to achieve self-sufficiency and success.

Our programs are also designed to foster self-reliance by providing individuals with family-supporting jobs and thus, a real chance for economic self-sufficiency. The training, job placement and support programs of Esperanza Unida Inc. assist low-income people in solving problems related to economic dependence and welfare. Hope and opportunity from family-supporting jobs replace hunger, poverty, violence, drugs, crime, teen pregnancy and the many other problems that stem from economic dysfunction.

Esperanza Unida Replication Manual

The replication manual explains Esperanza Unida's nationally recognized "Training Business Model."  The training business model works to train students in the context of an actual business. For instance, donated vehicles are repaired by our auto repair students and then sold to the public.  In turn, this revenue helps support the entire agency.

To order a copy of this 97-page replication manual, please call, write, or e-mail the Development Coordinator.  Cost: $13.00 (includes shipping).
